There is a feast of modern and unique artworks from two of Wales’s busiest artists, Howard Bowcott and Angharad Pearce Jones in the Cywain Centre. Their works were inspired from various aspects of Rural Life which have been transformed to contemporary artworks.

Angharad was brought up in the town of Bala. Angharad has specialised in metal works and her works has been shown all over the world including the Czech Republic and Croatia. Her works are also shown in the Wales Botanic Garden and her metal works are seen in Cardiff Bay and Aber Bargoed. Angharad said “Together with the rich language and culture of Bala and the surrounding area and the particular green and rust palette of its landscape, these elements have inspired me to propose a series of works that at once interpret, educate, trigger memories and celebrate rural life”.

Howard lives in the village of Penrhyndeudraeth in North Wales and is one of Wales’s busiest artists and some of his works include the regeneration of Chepstow’s High Street and redesigning Pontypridd. Howard said that he has designed all his artworks so that visitors to the centre would be “encouraged to touch the sculptures, to climb, sit upon and explore them in a tactile manner”.

There are other artworks also on their way to the Centre including an amphitheatre and a children’s playground that you can look forward to seeing in the future.
